Headphone Jacks: Tired Pony To Release Second Album In 2013

47Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody today revealed that one of his many recent side-projects,Tired Pony, are to release a second album next year. This comes on the back of the success of their first record, The Place We Ran From, which was released in July 2010. He also hinted that the supergroup could tour in the second half of 2013.

Tired Pony are a supergroup consisting of Snow Patrol, Belle & Sebastian’s Richard Colburn, REM’s Peter Buck, Iain Archer, Scott McGaughey and Troy Stewart. The album, A Place We Ran From, also featured guest appearances from M. Ward, Zooey Deschanel and The Editors’ Tom Smith. It remains to be seen who will feature on the upcoming album but Lightbody also revealed a desire duet with Bon Iver, Win Butler and the far less likely, Neil Young. With that in mind, fans of Tired Pony and Snow Patrol alike are probably licking their lips in anticipation. I know I am!

Update: On Thursday the 28th February, Gary Lightbody tweeted that the title of the forthcoming album would be The Ghost Of The Mountain. It remains to be the only details released about the album to date. We do know however that they have been in studio recording over the last few weeks. Stay plugged in for more.

Update #2: Lightbody has gone one to reveal that the record will feature the vocals of female singers Bronagh Gallagher, Kim Topper and Minnie Driver.
