UTV: Lightbody To Speak At Stormont

56Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody has been announced as a guest speaker at a TEDx event at Stormont.

TEDxStormont aims to open up discussion about the future of Northern Ireland.

The program helps communities, organizations and individuals talk openly about ‘ideas worth spreading.’

TEDxStormont will feature leading thinkers representing diverse fields such as entertainment, visual and performance art, politics, music and education.

Previous speaker at the worldwide events include Bill Gates and Sir Richard Branson.

Under the theme of ‘imagine,’ Gary Lightbody will talk about the future of society in Northern Ireland.

He said he was looking forward to speaking at the event.

“I’m honoured to be asked to speak at TEDxStormont. TEDx is a globally respected concept and fosters great innovation through the people it provides a platform to. I’m in a cast of quite awe inspiring individuals and truly looking forward to it”.

Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly, William Hay, said he welcomed the forward thinking event to Stormont.

“I am keen that Parliament Buildings is opened up for all of the people of Northern Ireland, but also connected globally.

“What better way than to bring together a mix of our very own and other highly respected leaders from various professions and callings to think out loud, tell us their story and share ideas worth spreading.

“The TEDxStormont event here at Parliament Buildings will prove to be an exciting and interesting spectacle.”
