Snow Patrol guitarist Nathan Connolly has debuted his latest musical project Little Matador at gig in the Goat’s Toe pub in Bangor over the weekend.
Tired Pony, a supergroup fronted by Snow Patrol’s lead singer Gary Lightbody, and also includes Jacknife Lee and R.E.M’s guitarist Peter Buck, just released their second album ‘The Ghost of the Mountain’ on Friday last and now another Snow Patrol member, singer and guitarist Nathan Connolly, has set up his own group of well-knowns.
They are called Little Matador and all the reports are suggesting they have a heavier sound. The band includes the ex-Idlewild bassist Gavin Fox, drummer Paul ‘Binzer’ Brennan who’s worked with The Frames and Concerto for Constantine in the past.
Nathan Connolly and co have just put the finishing touches to their album so this should be in shops in the near future. For now though Little Matador are getting their name out there and playing plenty of gigs. In the next week they’ll be opening for Nine Inch Nails at Belsonic in Belfast on Wednesday and then they’re playing a FREE gig in Whelan’s Dublin on Sunday night.
In other Snow Patrol news keyboardist Tom Simpson has officially left the group following their gig in Belfast this weekend.
