Islington Tribune: Star Appeal. Snow Patrol’s Drummer Admires Carmel’s Revamp

Jonny_03SNOW Patrol drummer Jonny Quinn dropped into Mount Carmel College, in Archway, on Friday to help mark the completion of its refurbishment under a £140m scheme.

As a result the girls’ school has a new reception area, refurbished classrooms and laboratories, and a drama centre.

Mr Quinn was joined by children’s author Candy Gourlay on a tour of the school in Duncombe Road.

Headteacher Paul Kehoe said: “We are delighted with the facilities and space which the refurbishment has created. Combined with our best-ever GCSE results in August this year, the college will continue to flourish and achieve new heights.”

The cash came from the Building for Schools Fund, which has given nine Islington secondary schools new or remodelled buildings.
