Snow Patrol’s smash hit Chasing Cars has been recognised after getting 4m US radio plays.
The hit song, which was released by the Northern Irish band in 2006 from their album Eyes Open, received a BMI Million-Air Award to honor its combined radio plays.
Frontman Gary Lightbody , from Bangor in Co Down , was awarded a Special Citation of Achievement from BMI for the song’s great national popularity at the BMI London Awards on Monday night.
The invitation-only gala recognised the UK and European songwriters and publishers of the past year’s most-played BMI songs on American radio and television.
Snow Patrol received a BMI Million-Air Award to honor the combined radio plays of the BRIT Award-nominated Chasing Cars.
Fans of the band are eagerly awaiting new music from the Indie rockers who have not released any new material since the album Fallen Empires in 2012.
However, new music is expected in 2016 – although the end of the year is closing in so the boys better get a move on.
